Mining Union is independent interest association actuating in the field of mining industry since the year 1990. It acts as an independent legal entity namely during solving issues of common interests of the mining organizations as well as of organizations engaged in related activities. At the end of the year 2010 Mining Union had 113 members that are divided into four professional groups:

  • Mining of stone and gravel sand
  • Other mining activities, geologic and planning activities, examinational activities
  • Machines and equipment for mining industry - manufacturing and selling of machines and equipment for mining activities and for environmental operation of the mining facilities
  • Others - vocational high schools and universities, museums and likewise institutions

Mining Union serves its members as enhancement for organization and support of mutual assistance and cooperation. It is creating conditions for exercitation of rights and requests of its members especially in the state when new structure of regulations is being created. At considerable rate it participates in the effective assistance provided during solving the cross of interest issues that are raised in connection of exercised or intended mining activity with an endeavor to objectify proprietary and environmental interest in particular areas. While locking its activities Union cooperates with ministries, administrative bodies and last but not least with similar associations in the Czech Republic as well as in foreign countries, above all in Slovakia, Poland and Hungary. Purpose of association and subject of its activities is set forth in Association's charter that precisely defines rights and duties of Union and its members.

Very important characteristic of the Union's function is the fact that it is not a closed group, but open association that invites to its meetings and events all subjects interested in its activities. Best proof of this doing is vital contact with other companies from all sorts of the mining activities' branches videlicet domestic as well as foreign firms, and good contacts with administrative bodies on the different levels too.

One of the sources of income ensuring Union's activities is formed from membership fees. Their range is set precisely in the Association's charter. The range of an annual fee itself is between 6 to 60 thousand CZK and depends on a type of Member Company and is also derived from felling volume or number of employees. The rest of the funds are gained from Union's own gainful activities.

Mining Union issues for its members, but also for other interested subjects, magazine called Minerální suroviny. Among essential elements of the magazine are papers from the mining industry area but also from the processing industry, ecology and geology. On its pages readers could find information not only about events directly connected with the Mining Union, but also about activities of cooperative organizations. Magazine is distributed at no charge. Magazine Minerální suroviny cooperates with similarly profiled technical papers in those countries.

With the activity of the Union you could meet personally on the professional activities and events that are held several times during the year and to which is invited, besides the members of the Union, also general professional public. Most recently these events are directed mainly on the questions connected with the changes in mining legislature that are being prepared, but also on the issues of mining activities and environmental protection's harmonization (especially on the Natura 2000).

One of the most important and most conspicuous events held by Mining Union is the International Demonstrational Fair of Machinery and Mechanics for the Mining Industry, the Field Engineering Industry and the Building Industry EXPO that is listed among prestigious European shows in the area of mining industry. This fair takes place in a quarry where exhibits are showed in operation in their natural environment. This type of presentation deviates from common scenario of the other special fairs and that is why it has obtained substantial popularity among the professional general public. On the eight named EXPO Mokrá 2010 was seen exhibitions of 129 companies and within three days more then 10 000 visitors walked through a gate of the fair (mainly experts). Next International Demonstrational Fair Expo will be held from the 5th to 7th of June 2012.

Mining Union is open for everyone who would like to participate in coactions of this association. Implication in events and actions is not contingent by the membership in the Union. Every one could therefore freely consider expediency of its membership for himself and also for those with who he will cooperate and meet within the Union.
